 Atal's early life

 Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on 25 December 1924 in a simple family in a small village in Gwalior.  His father was a village school master, as well as a great poet.  Due to which Atal inherited the virtue of poetry from his father.


 Atal's Education

 He received his elementary education from Gorkhi Vidyalaya and later went to Victoria College (now known as Laxmi Bai College) in Gwalior, where he earned a B.A.  Then M.A. from Political Science at Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College, Kanpur.  Here he topped the college, leaving all classmates behind.

 Political Life

 Atal used to attend many political meetings to serve the country before independence.  After independence, Vajpayee joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951.  In 1955, he contested the Lok Sabha elections for the first time from this political party and lost, but did not lose heart.

 In 1957, he contested from Balrampur Lok Sabha of Uttar Pradesh as a candidate of Jana Sangh.  But this time he won a magnificent victory.

 He was the leader of the Jan Sangh's parliamentary party for 20 consecutive years.  From 1977 to 1979, he was the foreign minister in Morarji Desai's government.  In 1980, unhappy with the Janata Party, founded the Bharatiya Janata Party.  He became the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party on 6 April 1980.

 He became Prime Minister for only 13 days in 1996, then was elected to the post of Prime Minister from 1998 to 2004 for the second time.

 As Prime Minister, he did many important things.  On 11 and 13 May, India's scientists under Atal, under Atal's leadership, conducted 5 underground nuclear tests and made India a nuclear-rich nation, under the terms of the UN, it was Atal's biggest achievement.

 During Atal ji's reign, he made several meaningful efforts to improve Indo-Pak relationship.  In which this was also an important step.

 He started a bus service between New Delhi and Lahore under the name "Sada e Sarhad" on 19 February 1999, talking to the Pakistani ruler Nawaz Sharif to improve Indo-Pak relations.  But in return, India got the Kargil War after a few months as a gift.

 Atal used to say that development cannot be done without the support of science in the present era, for which he gave the slogan of "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan", moving the slogan Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan.

 How soon his slogan came true, which is the mobile revolution, which started during his tenure and now India is second in the world in terms of mobile usage.

 Personal life

 Like APJ Abdul Kalam, he became so popular in the service of the country that he made the service of the country his last work and life partner.  So they did not married.  But he adopted a girl named Namita.

 Since 2004, Atal ji retired from active politics due to physical illness. But for a long time, he was undergoing treatment at AIIMS in Delhi.  At 16 August 2018 Atal ji took his last breath at Delhi .
