Shakuntala Devi: Shakuntala Devi was rich in amazing talent since childhood. From childhood, she used to solve difficult mathematics questions without a paper pen. Shakuntala Devi was born on 4 November 1929 in Bengaluru. Born in a poor family, Shakuntala Devi did not take any formal education. Her father was a circus artist. When Shakuntala Devi was playing cards with her father at the age of 3, her father found that her daughter has the ability to solve questions of mental ability.
Shakuntala demonstrated her computation ability at the age of 6 in a program held at the University of Mysore. In the year 1977, Shakuntala had taken the 23rd square root of 201 digit number in 50 seconds without a paper pen. The US Bureau of Standards had to prepare a special program to see their answer in ( Univarsal Automatic Computer ) UNIVAC 1101 computers. In the year 1980, she told the product of 2 numbers with 13 digits in 26 seconds.
Shakuntala's dream was to open a mathematics university and research and development center where people could be told about shortcuts and effective smart ways to solve mathematics questions. She has written several books, including 'The World of Homosexuals', 'Fun with Numbers', 'Astrology for You', 'Puzzles to Puzzles You', etc.
Let me tell you that in 1980, she contested independent elections from Medak of Mumbai South and Telangana. In Medak she stood against Indira Gandhi. Shakuntala Devi died on 21 April 2013. In 2014, on the occasion of her birthday, Google made a doodle.
