Life of Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi

Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi is remembered all over the world as a great personality.  They were firm in their ideals and non-violence.  He is accorded special honors not only in India but also abroad.  You can guess from this that Einstein, one of the great scientists of the world, had said that after a few years, people would not believe that people like Mahatma Gandhi were in the world.

Gandhi ji dedicated his entire life for the country.  There are many corners of the country from which his memories are attached.  There is a similar place in Haryana.  You would be surprised to know that Mahatma Gandhi was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize five times.  Apple founder Steve Jobs wore round glasses to pay homage to Gandhi.

Gandhi ji used to put fake teeth, which he kept in his clothes.  Mahatma Gandhi walked 18 kilometers every day.  From this point of view, Gandhi ji can travel around the world twice.

A day before his death, Mahatma Gandhi was considering dissolving the Congress party.  Mahatma Gandhi's last journey lasted for 8 kilometers.  There are 53 main roads in India named after Gandhi ji while there are 48 roads abroad.  Many of Gandhiji's items, including his clothes, are still preserved in the museums of Madurai.  In his entire life, Gandhi ji never took any political post.

The same British government against which Gandhiji agitated had issued a stamp in his honor 21 years after the death of Mahatma Gandhi.  Gandhi took part in the Boer War as a soldier.  In South Africa, Mahatma Gandhi used to get 15 thousand dollars, which is equivalent to about 10 lakh rupees today.

Palwal, a district at the far end of Haryana, has a very special memory of Gandhi ji.  Gandhi ji had gone to Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar by train against the Rowlatt Act, which was made to crush the freedom movement.  During this journey, Bapu was first arrested by the British government on April 10, 1919 at Palwal railway station.  This chapter was especially added in the history of Palwal.

Then on October 2, 1938, the leader Subhash Chandra Bose came to Palwal, then he laid the foundation stone of a monument in the memory of Gandhi ji.  That monument is today known as Gandhi Seva Ashram Trust.  In this ashram spread over about 5 acres, many things from his childhood to his last journey have been preserved.  Therefore, people also give the status of mini Rajghat to the trust.

Devi Charan Mangala, president of Gandhi Seva Ashram Trust, explains that that station of Palwal is in a bad condition today and is a victim of neglect at the government level.  There is a monument at the station, which is given importance only on October 2 or January 30.

There is a newspaper cutting in the office, which dates back to the time when Bapu was arrested.  Despite Gandhiji's name being associated, Palwal did not get the historical significance to which he is entitled.  If the government and administration are serious about this, then Palwal's name can be brighter.
