Indian Air Force 

Indian Air Force was established on 8 October 1932.  To commemorate this occasion, this day is celebrated every year as Indian Air Force Day. On 8 October, new aircraft designed for various missions are displayed, along with its features and its objectives are also explained.  Other important functions of the Air Force include Operation Vijay (to claim Goa), Operation Meghdoot (to capture the Siachen Glacier in the disputed Kashmir region), Operation Cactus (rescue operation in Maldives), Operation Pomlai (City of Jaffna in Sri Lanka)  and Operation Rahat (rescue and relief of people suffering from flash floods in Uttarakhand).


President of India holds the Supreme Commander rank of the Indian Air Force. Arjan Singh became the first Marshal of the Air Force and so gar five star  rank officer of the Indian Air Force. IAF is the 4th largest Air Force in the world. Subroto Mukherjee served as the first Indian CAS(Chief of the Air Staff) of the Indian Air Force.



This day is celebrated as Indian Air Force Day every year to commemorate this occasion.  Air Force Day was first officially celebrated on 8 October 1932.

History of Indian Air Force

The Indian Air Force has had a remarkable history of achievements since its inception in the year 1932.  Pursuing its primary objective of securing Indian airspace and conducting aerial warfare during the conflict, the Indian Air Force has been involved in four wars with Pakistan and one war with China.  The Air Force also played an active role in World War II by stopping the Japanese Army in Burma.  Other important functions of the Air Force include Operation Vijay (to claim Goa), Operation Meghdoot (to capture the Siachen glacier in the disputed Kashmir region), Operation Cactus (rescue operation in Maldives), Operation Pomlai (of the city of Jaffna in Sri Lanka)  To supply air-drop over the besieged city) and Operation Rahat (rescue and relief of people suffering from flash floods in Uttarakhand).  Apart from this, the Indian Air Force is also involved in the peace mission of the United Nations. The Indian Air Force has a strength of approximately 1,70,000 personnel and more than 1,400 aircraft and is considered one of the world's leading air forces.  It is its responsibility to protect the Indian region from all risks and provide assistance to the affected areas during natural disasters.

Indian Air Force Organization

The Chief Officer of the Indian Air Force is known the "Chief of Air Staff" which is the post of "Chief Air Marshal".  The Headquarters of the Indian Air Force is built in Delhi by which the entire Air Force is controlled.

The Air Marshall and the Vice Air Marshall or the Air Commodore are all staff to assist the Chief of Air Staff and all four of these staff control the Air Force's Head Branch.
