Beirut blast: Massive blast in Beirut Lebanon

There is a wave of mourning after the explosion in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.  There is a warehouse at the center of the blast that killed at least 100 people and injured more than 4,000 people in Beirut.  According to reports from the BBC, this warehouse had deposits of ammonium nitrate seized for the last 6 years in which the explosion occurred.  The condition of many in this blast has been described as very serious.

The Lebanese Prime Minister stated that the shipment contained 2750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate.  The explosion was like an earthquake.  This can be gauged from the fact that 240 kilometers away to Cyprus felt threatened.  President Michel Aoun has said that it cannot be accepted in any way how 2750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate was kept there unsafely.

The blast occurred on Tuesday in the coastal area of Beirut.  The video of this is also going viral on social media, in which it appears that smoke flames are rising with flames at that place.  After the blast, an eyewitness who was present there told the news agency AFP that all the surrounding buildings have collapsed.  Mirrors and debris are scattered all around.  At present, emergency has been implemented for two weeks across the country.

A ship standing near the shore exploded, full of firecrackers. The cars jumped to 3 floors with the blast. Buildings collapsed in an immediate. Lebanese Interior Minister reported that the port contained an oversized amount of nitrate. The Lebanese custom should have asked what the nitrate was doing at the port in such an outsized quantity? On the other  hand, Lebanese broadcaster Mayaden quoted the Director of Customs as saying that about one ton of nitrate has exploded.
